A men’s health coach helps men over 40 lose weight, improve metabolic health, increase energy and build long term health by addressing nutrition, sleep, stress, alcohol, exercise and daily habits as one connected system.
I’ve spent more than 15 years coaching more than 895 clients across Australia and internationally. My job isn’t motivation. It’s identifying what’s really driving the problem, fixing it, and holding you accountable until it sticks.
The Bottom Line: I work on the whole system. Food, sleep, alcohol, stress, training and the habits behind them. I find what’s driving the problem, then hold you accountable to the changes that move the needle.
Most of the men I work with have already tried gyms, calorie counting and generic healthy eating advice before they come to me. If you’re not sure where to start, use my Macro Calculator to calculate your protein, carbohydrate and fat targets.
I’m not a cheerleader. Not a meal-plan vending machine. Not a personal trainer who also talks about food.
My job is to look at the whole system, identify the one or two things quietly sabotaging your health, and hold you accountable until they change.
What does a men’s health coach do day to day?
I look at what you’re actually doing, not what you think you’re doing.
With my clients, I read their food log every day. That’s where the truth is. Within a week or two I can see the patterns that have been holding them back for years. The “healthy” carbs they’ve been told to eat. The wine on a Tuesday. The 5:30am training session stacked on top of five hours of sleep.
Then the work is correction and accountability. Not a printed plan handed over at week one and never looked at again.
I help you change your food, manage sleep, deal with alcohol, and rebuild your habits one at a time.
I ring a client and tell him he got on the beers on Friday before he’s admitted it, because the numbers say so.
That daily oversight is the product.
A coach who isn’t looking at your life every week isn’t coaching you.
How is a men’s health coach different from a personal trainer, a dietitian or your GP?
| Men’s Health Coach | Personal Trainer | Dietitian | GP | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Primary focus | Whole body health and behaviour | Exercise and fitness | Nutrition advice | Diagnosis and medical treatment |
| Nutrition | Full scope | Basic guidance | Full scope | General advice |
| Exercise | Personalised | Full scope | General guidance | General advice |
| Sleep | Full scope | Not usually addressed | Sometimes | If medically relevant |
| Stress | Full scope | Occasionally | Sometimes | If medically relevant |
| Alcohol | Full scope | Rarely discussed | Sometimes | If medically relevant |
| Behaviour change | Core focus | Supports exercise habits | Supports dietary habits | Limited |
| Accountability | Ongoing coaching | Session based | Review appointments | Medical appointments |
| Overall goal | Long term health transformation | Improve fitness | Improve diet | Diagnose and treat illness |
Each of these professionals handles one part of your health.
A personal trainer manages your workout. A different job from fixing your weight.
A dietitian in Australia is largely bound to the standard dietary guidelines, so most men get the same low fat, calorie counting advice that already failed them.
A GP is trained to treat the symptom. Usually with a prescription, not a conversation about why the symptom exists.
I coach you across nutrition, training, sleep, stress, alcohol, hormones and behaviour as one connected system. That’s what makes a men’s health coach different from a personal trainer, dietitian or GP.
How does a men’s health coach help men over 40 lose weight?
My job is to identify what’s causing the weight gain.
For most men over 40, that’s chronically elevated insulin caused by years of eating highly processed carbohydrates. Fix that and the body starts burning fat again.
Not sure where to start with food? The Macro Calculator for Men Over 40 gives you your personal protein, carb and fat numbers in two minutes.
If you’d like to understand why insulin matters so much, read Insulin resistance and weight loss in men over 40: why your calorie deficit isn’t working.
But food is only the start.
Weight loss happens in the 23 hours outside the gym. How you sleep. How much you drink. How you handle stress. How you set up your day so the right choice is the easy one.
So I get you fat adapted and off the blood sugar rollercoaster.
I protect your sleep.
I name the drinking habit nobody else will.
And I deal with the exercise addiction that has men training themselves into the ground and staying fat.
Men who can’t lose weight despite exercising almost always have a fuel problem, not a willpower problem.
Who should hire a men’s health coach?
If you’re already lean, healthy and simply want to improve your deadlift, you probably don’t need me.
If you’re 20kg overweight, exercising four days a week, exhausted, frustrated and wondering why nothing changes, that’s exactly who I work with.
Who I’m probably not the right coach for:
- You want someone to motivate you.
- You want a meal plan instead of accountability.
- You want to count calories forever.
- You’re looking for a quick fix.
- You’re not prepared to change what’s causing the problem.
What results can you expect?
Every man is different, but here’s what I consistently see:
- Weight loss that lasts after the coaching is done
- A smaller waist
- Lower HbA1c
- Lower triglycerides
- Better energy
- Better sleep
- Less medication, or none at all, under medical supervision
- More libido and better performance
- Higher Testosterone

Is a men’s health coach worth it for a man over 40?
For a man who’s spent years training harder, eating “healthy” and still not getting the results he wants – yes.
The value isn’t another meal plan or another gym program. It’s identifying the one or two things quietly sabotaging your health and finally fixing them.
Clint came to me with type 2 diabetes after more than ten years on medication. Twelve weeks later, his HbA1c had dropped from 6.5 to 5.9, putting him into remission. Under his doctor’s supervision, he also came off the cholesterol and triglyceride medication he’d been taking for a decade. See his results.
Weight loss is part of it. Better blood sugar control. Better energy. Better long term health. The kind of health that lets you stay capable well into your 60s and 70s.
If you’ve got kids, you’re also setting the example they’ll follow.
The next step is a conversation. Thirty minutes. No cost. You’ll know by the end whether this is the right fit. Book your free call here.
Frequently asked questions
What does a men’s health coach do?
I work on the whole system that drives a man’s health. Nutrition, sleep, alcohol, stress, training and daily habits.
I find what’s driving your results, then hold you accountable to the changes that move you toward your goals.
It’s daily oversight and behaviour change. Not a printed plan and a pep talk.
What is the difference between a men’s health coach and a personal trainer?
A personal trainer manages your workout and builds fitness.
I manage the cause of the result. Your nutrition, sleep, alcohol, stress and habits.
For men over 40, that distinction is the whole game – because training harder rarely shifts weight that’s being driven by food and hormones. I wrote more about the difference here.
Do I need a men’s health coach or a nutritionist?
A nutritionist or dietitian advises on food and, in Australia, is largely bound to the standard dietary guidelines.
I address food as part of the whole system – sleep, alcohol, stress and the behaviours that decide whether the food advice ever sticks.
If generic eating advice has already failed you, you need the broader job.
Can a men’s health coach help with type 2 diabetes?
Many men come to me because they’re overweight, prediabetic or living with type 2 diabetes.
I don’t diagnose or treat diabetes.
I help men improve the nutrition, sleep, activity and habits that influence metabolic health while they continue working with their doctor.
Is a men’s health coach worth it for men over 40?
For a man over 40 who has tried the conventional approach without results – yes.
I address the actual cause, manage the full picture and hold you to the changes that work.
Weight moves. Blood markers improve. And you can maintain it yourself afterwards.
What does a men’s health coach help with besides weight loss?
Sleep, energy, alcohol, stress, blood markers and the daily habits that govern all of them.
Weight loss is usually the entry point.
The real work is metabolic health. Getting off medication, or never needing it in the first place.
